Someone
with a face
A mother had just put her
little lad to bed and was about to leave the
room when he called out, "Mummie, you're not going to leave me
here all
alone, are you? It's so dark."
"Yes, I know it's dark, darling, but God is here all the time."
"Yes, I know God is here, but I want someone with a face."
This is surely the cry of humanity. In the dark hours of sorrow and
loneliness, when the joys of life have fled, when pain and anguish press
upon us, we long for "someone with a face." God knew that.
So He sent His Son in human flesh that we might never again be lonely.
Jesus Christ is not only God; He is "Someone with a face."--By
R. Allan Anderson, Signs of the Times, April 1963.
Quote: "We are not
called upon to ask for a little faith, small as a grain of mustard seed,
but we are called upon to ask for the mustard-seed-like faith, that,
being planted, will not die, but will rise and grow and strengthen,
and be a church for the singing birds."--By Joseph Parker, Signs
of the Times, July 28, 1936.
